Cannes hosting festival of Russian Arts

Cannes remains one of southern France's most active towns for cultural activities. The 9th Festival festival of Russian Arts is currently being held, arranged by the Russian Culture Fund, the Federal Agency on Culture and Cinematography and the city council of Cannes.

The festival programme to last until August 27 presents Boris Eifman's new ballet version of "Anna Karenina" to Tchaikovsky's music, and the traditional Day of Russian Cinema featuring "The Tuner", "The 9th Company", and "Dreaming of Space", as well as meetings with film directors Kira Muratova, Fyodor Bondarchuk and Alexei Uchitel.

The festival will be crowned with a musical concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Dmitry Shostakovitch.
